"MAGNUS" - Rondoro Magnus
Having had Thoroughbreds and Harness Ponies as a child, Ben has always adored the Gentle Giants... "Magnus" is Ben's very first Clydie, very much his pride and joy, now 11 years of age. He was kept a Stallion (a very majestic, flashy boy!) until 2010 and the decision was made to geld Magnus, so as to utilise him in pairs-harness with our Annie, as well as to make way for a new Stallion at Malicloy. And what a lovely working horse he has become... He is the epitome of the term "Gentle Giant." Magnus is super placid, very affectionate and always willing to please...
Magnus (along with our girl Annie) spent 7 months in Victoria in 2011, training for pairs harness with well-respected harness trainer John ("Patto") Patterson of Flemington, Melbourne. We had each individually driven horses in harness, but never a pair! A dream come true for Ben, who just loves harness driving! We were lucky enough to spend the last 2 days with Magnus and Annie in Melbourne at the completion of their training & it was incredible for Ben to experience driving our 2 horses together through trams and traffic down Union Street!! Holly spent the entire two-days with her eyes shut!!
All-new harness & 11-seater vis-a-vis carriage polished and ready...All set for our first horse-drawn Wedding of good friends Ali & Chris Woidt in Mannum, South Australia. "Magnus" & "Annie" were incredible and didn't falter... We were to pick up the Bride from the Resort atop the hill & take her and her Bridesmaids ACROSS THE FERRY to the church on the OTHER side of the wide Murray River!! This was the first time that horses had been across the river in over 30 years, so it was rather special for the town locals, with lots of Photographers to greet us on the other side! The day went brilliantly and our team from Malicloy were amazing...
