2011 News
13&14/8/11 We have had a great weekend of showing after a brief break. Derek tooks the honours on Saturday winning Best of Breed and Pingu won Runner Up Best of Breed. Pingu was awarded Best of Breed on Sunday and Derek was awarded Runner Up. We were extremely proud of them and they just looked amazing. It's not often you get two dogs looking at their best at the same time!
3/8/11 After a long time in great anticipation we welcome "Clancy" (Ferndales Starcraft) to Malicloy Park. He arrived from Western Australia in good spirits and has made himself at home. He comes from some of the best 'Lines' Australia has to offer and we look forward to competing with him at the shows. His debut show will be at the Gawler Agricultural Show in late August.
1/8/11 New pictures of Poppy have been added to her page. She is now 6 months old.
24/7/11 At today's show Lucy gained her Australian Championship Title after winning Best of Breed. Well done and many thanks to Monica Breivik of Vegamo's Kennel in Norway for breeding such a sweet dog and sending her to Australia.
23/7/11 We have updated our Pictures page with photos of some of the Major Awards won at Malicloy.
10/7/11 Cosi does it again and wins Best In Show at the 2011 Bernese Mountain Dog Club of SA Championship Show. Specialty shows were also held for Newfoundlands and Pyrenean Mountain Dogs at the same venue under the same Canberra judge Ms. Linda Buckley. Linda then awarded Cosi "Supreme Winner" when all three breeds battled it out for the ultimate award. Derek came a close second to Cosi and was awarded Runner Up Best In Show. Not bad considering Derek is a mere 16 months old. Pingu won Reserve Bitch Challenge as well as best Intermediate in Show. Poppy won Best Baby Puppy in Show and our Lucy also won Opposite Sex of her Class in Show. Was a fabulous day of showing for Malicloy. Below is a Photo of Holly with Derek (RUBIS Malicloy Blue Steel) and Myself with Cosi (BIS, BISS Ch. Zanzebern Cosi Fan Tutte).
9/6/11 Derek and Stormie puppies at 3 weeks old.
30/5/11 Good news for our dearest Derek! He scored 2:1 on the hips and 0:0 on his elbows. This gives him an Australian Grade 0 and an International Grade A2 which is just fabulous, especially given the size and substance of Derek. Derek's Father Angus scored 0:0 for both hip and elbows and Derek's mother Lucy scored 1:1 on her hips and 0:0 on her elbows.
18/5/11 We are proud to announce the birth of 9 puppies (4 Boys and 5 girls) out of Branbern Storm In A Teacup (Stormie) by Malicloy Blue Steel (Derek). Stormie managed to whelp all of them naturally and has been an exceptional mum.Enquiries are welcome for future litters but all puppies from Stormie and Derek are already sold.
7/5/11 'Cosi' (Ch. Zanzebern Cosi Fan Tutte) wins Best in Show at the 2011 Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Victoria Specialty Show, handled and presented by myself Ben Taylor (said with a huge grin from ear to ear!!!). Congratualtions to Emma Sankey (Owner) and Nicole Lennon (Breeder) for such a prestigeous win! Australia only has one breed specialty per year held in Victoria and it seems to be going from strength to strength. This year had another record entry of 108 Bernese under breed specialist Sharon Chestnut Smith from the USA. Cosi has joined us here at Malicloy Park to be campaigned in South Australia. Thanks to Emma Sankey (Zolikon Bernese) for letting us take this precious girl home with us. She is a delight to handle and present.
